Vintage Oak Side/Dining Chairs, **SOLD**

$0.00

This pair of classic oak ladder-back chairs with cane seats have a natural light finish that will complement any décor. These vintage chairs carry the label of the Paine Furniture Company in Boston, a venerable manufacturer of fine furniture since 1835. In its heyday the company occupied entire city blocks in downtown Boston and one of the old buildings survives on the National Register of Historic Places. The sixth generation of the original owners now run a furniture store on Cape Cod.

The solid construction has withstood the test of time, and when I obtained them only a few joints needed regluing. That was not the case with the cane seats, as one seat had a large hole and had to be completely replaced, and the second had several broken strands that I meticulously repaired one-by-one. The finish was cleaned, hand sanded and then sprayed with multiple coats of clear satin lacquer.

If you’re looking for some extra seating for your dining room or kitchen, these sturdy vintage chairs are an exceedingly affordable and attractive solution.  Help yourself to the triple bottom line: (1) It’s much better quality construction (all solid old growth hardwood oak) than you will find in new furniture for sale; (2) The price is a much better value (two chairs for the typical price of one new chair), and (3) You are helping our environment by reusing existing furniture rather than consuming additional energy and resources by buying new.

 Local pickup Takoma Park, MD.

 Dimensions:  Overall 36” H x 17” W x 16” D; Seat height 18”

$140. Cash, Paypal or Venmo ONLY.
